Jeremy Denk Returns to New Yorker, with Article Titled "Piano Man" in Magazine and Discussion of His New Album on Podcast
Pianist Jeremy Denk has written a brief personal history for this week's New Yorker, the "Money Issue." In the new piece – his third contribution to the magazine, titled "Piano Man" – Denk shares a story from early in his career when, as a struggling artist, he was tempted by one particular gig that he hoped would improve his finances. The article appears in the October 14, 2013, issue of the New Yorker, on newsstands now and available online for subscribers to the magazine at newyorker.com.
Denk is also featured in the latest edition of the New Yorker's Out Loud podcast, on which he talks with the magazine's Leo Carey and Sasha Weiss about his new recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations, released last week by Nonesuch Records. Besides discussing the iconic work in depth with clips from the recording, Denk explains what prompted his popular blog, and talks about the kinds of future project that may now be possible, thanks to his MacArthur Fellowship. The podcast is also available at newyorker.com.
